Happy New Year/Independence Day!

Here’s to 211 years of independence. Happy Haitian Independence Day!

In this bowl is a traditional Haitian soup, called joumou. It consists of pumpkin, squash, dumpling, noodle of your choice, potatoes, carrots, spinach, potatoes, and meat. Of course mine does not have meat because I am a vegetarian.

Let’s also have a toast and a big pat on my back for being a vegetarian for over a year. December 30, 2014 made it one year.

Read last year’s post about the history behind soup joumou here.

Hope you’re all bringing in the new year with positivity and happiness.

Keep the faith alive.
