This was on my heart and I felt lead to share it:
2 Corinthians 9:7
Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
What does this mean? If you are going to give, do so out of your heart. Not for show (Matthew 6:1-4) or because you feel like you have to. Also not because you are expecting God to return the favor. A lot people want to be blessed, but don’t actually take the time out to bless others. You want God to be your personal Genie and wish for things that you don’t need. So when you don’t get what you pray for, you begin to doubt and take matters into your own hands when God has been telling you to just be patient!
Have you ever had your eyes on something but couldn’t afford it at the moment? So you’ll save money for that one item until you have just enough only to find out that the item is no longer in stock?
Have you ever felt disappointment and upset because you worked so hard for it and now it’s gone. Let me tell you this, it wasn’t for you so stop crying and wishing for things that aren’t meant for you. Instead rejoice and thank the Lord that you did not get the desires of your heart because He has something greater for you!
A lot of people are misusing the scripture from Matthew 7:7 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” However, do not once assume the Lord will bless a wicked heart! A lot of hearts are not in the right place and it saddens me. When do you take the time out to pray for a change of heart? You want change, but don’t actually want to change. You’re also searching for answers in all the wrong places. Whoever you run to the moment you have a problem is not your source. Do not make others your God! Go before the Lord, get in the word, and pray. I like what Kim Jones-Pothier (RealTalkKim) says,”Take it to the throne, not the phone!”
I love you enough to share that the Lord wants to know you. He wants you to rest your heart and surrender to Him. Let go of anything that you are holding on to that’s making you bitter, angry, or depressed. Let the enemy know that the thoughts he’s trying to fill in your mind are not real! Let him know that he’s a liar and that you will get through this and that you declare starting today, you will no longer open up doors for him in Jesus’ name!
It takes time, patience, and an abundance amount of faith. Be patient. Take some time out to bless others even when you are not being blessed in this season.
