Feeling Worthless?

I’m going to need for you to hold on just a bit longer. I’m going to need for you to shut out those negative thoughts. Instead of crying yourself to sleep tonight, I’m going to need for you to pick up that bible. I’m going to need for you to pray. Cry it out, scream, shout, but whatever you do don’t give up! I’m going to need for you to place all your hope and faith in God. Matthew 10: 29-31 says:

Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.

I love how often the bible reminds us to not fear. Who told you that you are worthless and why did you believe them? God can count every single strand on your head. He knows everything about you, yet loves you no matter what! Do you obey and trust man more than you trust God? If you told yourself that you are worthless, then cast your worries onto the Lord. Rebuke these thoughts because they’re from the enemy. He knows your weakness, so this has been stirring up for a while until he finally got to you. Tell him about himself, “You are a liar!”

John 8:44
… because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

I remember when I was told that I was a mistake every single day of my life for over 10 years. I started to believe these lies and tried to take my own life away several times. This caused me to be in a deep depression. I used to shut people out, I began to ignore God’s voice, I wanted a way out. In order for me to free my mind, I surrendered. I realized that my life is not my own to take away. I was curious as to why God saved me every time I tried to commit suicide. I thought to myself, “If God placed me on this planet, then there must be a very good reason as to why I am here. There must be a reason as to why I am able to smile through the pain no matter what I go through.”

I did not deserve any of it! I thought about those who are in my life and how much pain they will be in. I thought about those who were going through the same situation that I could impact because I chose to not give up. I chose hope, joy, and peace. Because I did not give up, I have accomplished so much at a young age and I am looking forward to more as I grow.

Did you know that Thomas Edison had 1,000-10,000 attempts before creating the light bulb? Jim Carey, the famous comedian and actor used to be homeless. Bill Gates dropped out of Harvard and his first business failed. Not throwing any shade, I actually love this actor, but Leonardo DiCaprio has starred in 36 movies and STILL haven’t won an oscar.

As cliche as this is, if at first you do not succeed, try and try again! Nothing stopped them from succeeding. In order to succeed you must work hard, step out of your comfort zone, take a step in faith, believe in yourself, and know your worth. You need to be ready to stand up for yourself! You can’t simply give up because you don’t see results right away!

Faith is trusting in what you cannot see. Jesus came down to this earth, was back stabbed and betrayed by those who were close to Him, surpassed temptation, tests, and trials. He was beaten and bruised, but He never stopped being obedient. He never gave up because He loves us! He chose to die for us so that we can have an eternal life with our Father. Think about the agony we would be in if He decided to give up.

So what’s stopping you? What is your excuse? God did not promised the weapons won’t form, He promised they won’t prosper. We all go through obstacles! We are all told no many times before we can get a yes. Someone out there needs to hear your story. Because of you, someone will not give up. You were placed on this planet for a reason. When you begin to nitpick everything about yourself, you are telling God that He made a mistake. His children are no mistakes! You were fearfully and wonderfully made. You are a masterpiece, therefore you are important. You matter!

You may not go through what I went through or any of the gentlemen I listed, but that does not mean this does not apply to you. You may have lost a job, failed every class, gained weight, lost a loved one, had your heart broken, whatever it is DO NOT GIVE UP!

And whatever is on your mind tonight, don’t do it. Do not make a permanent decision based on temporary feelings.

Rest your heart.

Psalm 139:13-16

For you formed my inward parts;
you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret,
intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance;
in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.
