Travel Diary

Time to update my traveling diary! I was so busy preparing for the Reserved Singles Retreat that happened in October 2015, that I forgot to upload my adventure! I went away for four days to spend time with the Lord as well as surround myself around other believers.

Let’s get started!!

Although this year, the retreat was only 20 minutes away from my home, it felt as if I was somewhere else. It was held in Hollywood, FL. I walked into this gorgeous room with a balcony that looked out into a breathtaking view. My roommate and I did not book a balcony view, we were so blessed they gave us this without requesting it.

I finally got to meet my roommate, Dori (I love that nickname because I love Dori from Finding Nemo) in person after talking to her for months. It was as if I knew her for years. She is such a sweetheart and is hilarious! We’re so much alike, one of our common traits are that we’re both introverts that are working on being out more. This was the first night after the welcoming party. We were waiting for the first Singles Session, Single & Sexual. Here’s a few notes from this topic.

1 Corinthians 7

I want to be:

1. Loved
2. Appreciated
3. Affirmed
4. Stimulated
5. Intimate (Intimacy-into me you will see)

The most intimate thing you can give are your words. We confuse sex for Intimacy. (Coming into me to see what’s going on in me.) Set boundaries!

That first night was a bit rough. I packed five days worth of foodd, but I forgot them. It wouldn’t have worked out anyway because there were no microwaves. I would have had to throw out the food. We decided to go to Publix to get things to put in the fridge as well as a meal or the night. So, no hot meal for four days and I had to keep in mind that God provides. I did not have enough for food, but I trusted Him. I was able to eat the entire stay, hallelujah!

On the second day, one of my friends and I decided to wake up early in the morning to watch the sun rise. We worshipped together. We then had quiet time with our Father. The view breathtaking. We discussed how everything was created perfectly. How the ocean stops just enough. How the colors of the sky paint out colors of love. How the sun rise. He’s an artist and I enjoy His creations.

I changed twice that day. Here I am with these lovely sisters in Christ, my best friend Joy and Angela. They’re so fabulous and have a great sense of humor. We attended a few workshops that day.

I met another Christian author and she came into our room to speak with me. I am thankful for our now friendship. She encouraged me as we shared our stories. The next morning, I woke up to God speaking into my heart. I immediately grabbed my journal and went out on the balcony. He gave me instructions to get out of my comfort zone. He wanted me to have a book reading and to tell as many people about my book. I had never been a speaker before, so I was nervous. However, it was a success.

Heather and Cornelius are so cool! God bless them and their family. I told them about my book and how they helped change my life. I then contined to tell them how I had this fear in the back of my head about my book because I wasn’t sure who would read it.

They told me to not worry and that my book could just be for one person or over time more people will read it. Heather’s blog has been around for years until she finally got viewers a few years ago. It takes time for something to grow and I can’t be negative towards something the Lord told me to do. Heather then told me she will buy my book to support me. I screamed on the inside!!!

Later that night, we went to the commitment ceremony. It was an experience I want to relive! We all walked down a red isle that had pedals as they took our pictures. We made a Vow to basically never give up. Once it was over, we broke out into worship. It was different from the jam session. This was as if the Lord entered the room and touched all of our hearts. I cried tears of joy and surrendered all over again. It was beautiful and life changing.

God’s love never fails. This mini vacation was much needed and I am excited for the Pinky Promise Conference this year! If you want to see more photos, I uploaded them to my Instagram and Facebook so feel free to check them out.

Have a blessed day!
